At International House Kyiv, we continue to teach through Russia's war against Ukraine and the air raid alerts that interrupt daily life. This autumn, we brought educators together across borders, welcomed a new colleague from Britain and kept our learners moving forward.

A day that reached beyond Kyiv

On 3 October, we hosted IH Kyiv Teacher Training Day 2026 amid repeated air raid alerts. Teachers and speakers joined online from Ukraine and around the world, including Warsaw, Madrid, Tbilisi and Hanoi, for 13 sessions across two parallel rooms.

Together, we explored neuroinclusion, responsible AI, classroom practice and teacher wellbeing. Participants brought their experience and questions, and helped us support Ukraine through the Come Back Alive Foundation.

Learning continues at every stage

Our adult, children's and corporate English groups continue. We have also recruited participants for CELTA, DELTA and IHCYLT, alongside our other teacher development programmes, including IELTS teaching and mentoring. Our students and teachers keep investing in their futures, even while living with uncertainty.

We remain committed to the standards of the International House World Organisation network: thoughtful teaching, professional development and care for our learners.

From Britain to Kyiv: meet Kevin

In September, British teacher Kevin Harding moved to Kyiv and joined our team. He qualified with CELTA at IH Torquay in 2023 and taught there before coming to Ukraine. He now teaches General English and IELTS preparation, while continuing his own development through DELTA.

Choosing to join us during wartime takes courage. We are grateful to have Kevin beside us, contributing to the daily work of our school. You can meet him and the rest of our teachers on our team page.

We are planning what comes next

We have also launched our refreshed website and look forward to forthcoming updates to Amber, the platform we use to run our students' learning. We continue to improve how we support our students and teachers, and to carry our educational mission forward.

To colleagues facing difficulties of their own: please keep reaching out, sharing ideas and asking for support. Our experience in Kyiv reminds us how much we can do together. We are proud to teach in Ukraine, grateful to our international colleagues, and determined to keep building a future here.
