Do I have to take both components together?

No. The written (Listening, Reading and Writing) and speaking parts are two separate exams with separate certificates. You can take them on the same day or at different times.

A resit option that can only be purchased together with the exam for a small additional fee. If you fail a part, you can retake it without paying the full fee again. If you pass first time, the additional fee is non-refundable.

Are IESOL B2 exams recognised by universities?

The exam is recognised by universities and institutions in many countries; the current list is available on the LanguageCert website. If your institution is not on the list, ask them directly: they often accept the certificate, and the list is updated later.

How long does the exam take and when are the results available?

The written paper takes 2 hours 40 minutes and the spoken paper 13 minutes. Official results follow within three working days.

How much does it cost and how should I prepare?

The LanguageCert website shows the price during booking, and it depends on the country of registration; an IH Kyiv manager can confirm the current fee. Preparation at IH Kyiv covers the format of each section, task strategies, practice tests using official materials, and speaking practice with a teacher.

How to register

Registering for IESOL B2

Registration on the LanguageCert website takes a few minutes. After purchasing, you have 12 months to choose a date and time; the administrative part of the exam can be conducted in your native language if it is available.

On the LanguageCert website, go to the ESOL section and select B2 Communicator, then choose the written component, speaking or both. Add Take2 if needed.

Click Schedule or Edit Date & Time and choose a slot — or do it later; you have 12 months from the purchase date.

Enter the candidate’s details and pay — confirmation with instructions will arrive by email.

Prepare your computer and room
Before the exam, check your computer against LanguageCert’s technical requirements (the link is in the confirmation email). Our advice: position the camera so that the door is behind you, clear anything unnecessary from the desk, and put your phone on silent without switching it off.
