IHCYLT – International House Certificate for Younger Learners
Entry requirements
The International House Certificate in teaching Younger Learners and Teenagers (IH CYLT) is a teacher training course (50 hours) designed to prepare Course Participants (CPs) to teach English as a foreign or an additional language (EFL/EAL) to children between 6 and 16 years old.
The course is produced and standardized by International House World Organization (IHWO) and moderated and assessed by both the IHWO Assessment Unit and Cambridge English Language Assessment.
Course dates:

Full-time: 19.06.23 - 30.06.23 (Online)
Applicants must:

be 18 years or older and be educated to university entrance level
be experienced YL teachers who would like further training, or qualified language teachers who need training in Young Learner education
have a minimum English language level of C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. All of the sessions are presented in English and the written assignments must be written in English
display an interest in teaching YLs and be cleared by the local police officials in agreement with the laws of the country in which the course is taking place
successfully complete the application form and task sheet
Rather than comparing adult learners to YLs the new IH CYLT looks at how teachers can most efficiently use their classroom time to help YLs acquire English. Therefore, the course is recommended for IHCTL / CELTA qualified teachers as well as teachers with certificates equivalent to IHCTL / CELTA.
Centres may, at their discretion, accept applicants who do not have the qualifications stated above if screening indicates that they would be likely to complete the course successfully.
