IHCYLT Course Programme

Psychology of YL&T learning and motivation

You explore how different cognitive stages and emotional triggers affect language acquisition in children aged 6-12 and teenagers aged 13-16, and learn to build lessons that maintain interest and "sense of success" from the first minute.

Methods and approaches:

The module introduces leading communicative techniques, Total Physical Response and Task-Based Language Teaching, and shows how to integrate subject content (CLIL) for academic vocabulary development from beginning levels.

Classroom management and routine procedures

Master reward systems, password/gesture signal techniques, "teacher language" and online tools that maintain order without losing the fun.

Lesson planning and frameworks

Trainers demonstrate how to choose the best template for lesson objectives, analyse student needs through diagnostic tasks and adapt plans in real time.

Developing productive and receptive skills

Learn how to balance speaking and writing with reading and listening, using age-friendly scaffolding and critical thinking exercises.

Language clarification and practice:

vocabulary, grammar, phonics Deepen your ability to explain form/meaning/pronunciation and build the "Accuracy → Fluency" cycle with differentiated tasks.

Songs, Rhymes & Phonics: multimodal activities

Learn to select songs, movement activities and rhythmic exercises that accelerate memorisation and form correct language patterns — even if you're "not a musician."

Storytelling & CLIL projects

The module shows how to simultaneously develop students' vocabulary, critical thinking and creativity through stories and subject themes (science, art, maths).

Material design and adaptation + EdTech

Analyse textbook selection criteria, create your own flashcards, digital quests in Quizizz/Wordwall and set up a "safe" online space for homework.

Mixed-ability teaching, formative assessment and portfolios

Gain differentiation strategies, maintain student e-portfolios and practise "assessment for learning" so everyone sees their progress and next steps.
