Two weeks ago, I started the IH Modular 'Basics in Teaching' Course which lasted for five days and turned out to be an incredibly amazing journey to the world of teaching English. The course met all of my expectations and even more. It is an excellent combination of both learning something new about how to teach and practising straightaway. Many-many thanks to Tetiana Tereshchenko, the tutor, for being so eager to share her knowledge, experience, and helpful ideas. It is so nice to realise that under such hard circumstances we still have enthusiasts like her. A special respect to IH Kyiv for designing and arranging the course. It was a fantastic experience with lots of takeaways.<\/div> <\/span> <\/div> <\/div>

I took the face-to-face CELTA course (part time) at IH Kyiv in October-December 2021. The school organised all the stages of the course effectively and transparently. At the admission stage, I was interviewed by Joe Fisher, the main course tutor and the director of studies at IH Kyiv. The IH Kyiv office responded without delay and helped to resolve any issues promptly (admission information, payment, course timetable etc.). The classes took place in a comfortable, well-equipped room (an IWB, comfortable chairs, well-lit). We also had full access to the teacher's room resources (coursebooks, stationery, printers and photocopiers) and the kitchen (a place for bonding and sharing meals with co-trainees). Given the Covid restrictions of the past months, it was a delight to discuss the course content and to teach TP lessons face-to-face. In addition, the course was managed flexibly and moved online for four sessions in accordance with the anti-pandemic regulations. The latter decision enabled the course participants to practise teaching skills in an online teaching context (Zoom). The course tutors (Joe Fisher, Tetyana Ivanova and Svitlana Starykova) maintained high professional standards of teacher training, delivered input sessions in a trainee-centred manner, maximising the trainee teaching experience and focusing on trainee performance enhancement during TP feedback sessions. Joe, Tetyana and Svitlana are true professionals, approachable, caring and fair. Their course materials were clear, useful and can be used for reference after the course. The TP lessons were organised at three levels (A2, B1 and B2). My course progress was commented upon regularly, with oral and written recommendations posted after each TP. I strongly recommend the CELTA course at IH Kyiv. I was lucky to take the course under the guidance of Joe, Tetyana and Svitlana - I cannot thank you enough! My fellow trainees, I miss you all.
